Tax packet

Collect forms, see what is missing, and download a ZIP for your preparer.

Tax packet is a January–April collector. It is not a tax return and not tax advice.

Steps

  1. Upload this year’s forms and, when you have it, last year’s return. W-2s, 1099s, brokerage statements, and donated-receipts photos all belong here in Personal.
  2. Click Process Documents.
  3. Open Tax packet.
  4. Choose the tax year and filing status. In a household you can choose joint or separately.
  5. Read the checklist. Expected forms that have not arrived yet are marked expected, then missing after the recipient due date.
  6. Review the federal planning range and carryover rail. Low-confidence boxes are left out on purpose.
  7. Use Remind me to put a deadline on this device’s calendar.
  8. Download the ZIP when you are ready to send originals to your preparer.

What is in the ZIP

Original PDFs and images plus a cover sheet. There is no spreadsheet of findings. A separate packet never copies your partner’s own files.

What it does not do

It does not file with the IRS. It does not replace your CPA. Community-property and married-filing-separately notes are there so you can ask a professional, not so Finipher can decide.

You'll know it worked when

The checklist matches the forms you uploaded, and the ZIP opens with a cover sheet plus the original files.

If this doesn't work

Process the forms first. If the range is missing, the year may be unknown or the boxes were too low-confidence to include.
